Welcome to our events page. Here you will find details of all the diverse and interesting events that happen at Forde Abbey throughout the year. For some of these events Season Tickets are not valid. Please read the event descriptions carefully.

June 2013

Simon Casson, the artist-in-residence at Forde Abbey this year, will be holding a Masterclass at the Abbey on Monday 17th June from 2pm. If you are interested in attending what is sure to be a thought-provoking and artistically-rewarding event, please contact Simon directly via his website. Landscape painting and drawing will be the focus of this afternoon's Masterclass.

Simon will give an introductory illustrated talk about his work, followed by practical work in the gardens and perhaps even in the house. Please bring your own painting equipment and Simon will also provide some additonal materials for practical exercises. One of the aims of the Masterclass is that you will have a small piece of oil on gesso work to take home with you.

Membership cards and other vouchers are not valid for this event.

July 2013

Sweet Pea Fortnight, Monday 1st -  Sunday 14th July. Come and see over 60 named varieties, all of which will delight the senses and perhaps inspire you to grow some of these scented and colourful wonders yourself. As the season has been a little slow to get started again this year, the Fortnight might well extend into later in the month - and you might like to contact us before making a special visit at the beginning of the Fortnight, so we can advise you about what is in bloom.

Charity Summer Fair, Thursday 25th July. Once again, we will be supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care and RABI (the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution) by hosting over 60 stalls, together with events such as a classic car rally; a farmers’ market and other food stalls; dog agility and falconry displays; fly fishing tutorials; children’s attractions; live music… and much, much more. Membership cards and other vouchers are not valid for this event, which is held to benefit the charities.

August 2013

Folksy Theatre will once again be delighting us by performing Shakespeare in the gardens. This year Romeo and Juliet will entertain us from7pm on Thursday 1st August. Tickets are bookable through Folksy Theatre (http://www.folksytheatre.co.uk/Home.html  Tel:01698 854409). Season tickets are not valid for this event.

Giant Games on the lawn, Sunday 25th and Monday 26th August will prove challenging and entertaining to children and adults alike. From snakes & ladders to chess, limbo dancing to pick-up sticks, there is something for everyone to try.

October 2013

Glorious colours will enhance the gardens during Autumn Colours Week from Saturday 19th – Thursday 31st October.

England’s tallest powered fountain comes on three times a day every day between Easter and 31st October, at 12noon, 1.30pm and 3pm (weather permitting).
