A taste of Autumn workshop
September 14 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£140
Come and enjoy the bounty of Autumn in a kitchen garden workshop celebrating all that is in abundance in September. Join garden writer Sally Nex, head gardener, Joshua Sparkes, local chef Ed Versluys, and the veg growers, Hewood organics for a day long course in how to grow your own and make the most of this season’s harvest.
We’ll be delving into ‘dig’ and ‘no dig’ methods, having trialled them ourselves in the kitchen garden this year, as well as cover cropping and how to get the best out of your soil. And with a glut of garden produce to hand, Ed Versluys, will be behind a stove with inspiration for seasonal recipes. Freshly foraged ingredients from the kitchen garden will feature on the menu for lunch, after you’ve worked up an appetite on a wander with head gardener, Joshua Sparkes.
Using much of what we grow in the kitchen garden on the menu in the tearooms, the taste and provenance of our vegetables is important to us. For this reason, Olly Hone and the garden team have been experimenting with a range of working practices in the kitchen garden for the past six months, with an emphasis on soil health and biodiversity in the kitchen garden. Success will be measured in taste, something we hope you’ll be able to help us with.
Tickets for the day long workshop are £140, and include coffee, cake, lunch and the company of our veg garden experts.
