Autumn Colour

March 29 - October 31

Event Navigation

Enjoy the fresh air and open space of the gardens and all that Autumn has to offer.  Thank you for your continued support.

Star performers include our glorious maples – Acer rubric ‘October Glory’ – an impressive tulip tree that turns a yellow gold, the burnt orange leaves of the turkey oak and an avenue of lime trees that turn pale yellow-green.

There is plenty of colour in the herbaceous borders that edge the length of the Long Pond, with Mexican Sunflowers still out in force as well as burnished orange Heleniums.

Dahlias and Michaelmas daisies are also lighting up the borders, and look out for the giant pumpkins and the array of Autumn gourds on display in the historic kitchen garden.

Forde Abbey’s house, garden, plant nursery and coffee shop are open. There is no need need to pre-book a time slot, but for ease of purchase you can either book a ticket online in advance, or in the shop on arrival.

The loos will be open.To ensure the health and safety of all our visitors are staff, we politely ask everyone to follow NHS guidelines regarding regular hand washing and hygiene practices.

As you’ll appreciate, this is a changing situation and we are following Government advice. Please ensure you check the website for any updates before you visit the gardens.
We’ll continue to share updates on the website. In the meanwhile, please join us on instagram and Facebook for seasonal postcards from the garden.
