As part of British Flowers Week, we’ll be hosting a series of creative flower workshops with local flower farmer and florist, Grace Alexander, using the very best of what’s in season to create beautiful hand ties and arrangements.
Introducing you to Grace: ” There is a reason why British Flowers Week (19 – 25 June) is mid June. The best of the summer, bursting out of the ground and giving us its all. Fancy a dip? Come and paddle in a sea of blooms in one of the loveliest gardens in the South West. You’ll be given a buckets and snips and allowed free rein on the endless varieties of sweet peas. A neon pink was a favourite last year, not my thing, but there is something for everyone. If we’re lucky, the Forde Abbey private rose garden will provide exquisite finishing touches.
Your pickings, the best of the harvest from my own flower field, lashings of tea and scones, and you’ll be guided to produce a bountiful and beautiful hand tied bouquet. Mid Summer tied with string.”
It’s a lovely couple of hours, in the company of others, learning floristry techniques and how to combine colour with texture and create a style all of your very own. Coffee, tea and cake will be served along with lots of friendly advice and tips on how to condition flowers and make long lasting arrangements.
Just bring yourself (and maybe a friend) and we will provide the rest:
Tea and cake
Professional tuition and all materials and flowers
tools and equipment
your final arrangement to take home.
Date: 17th June
Tickets: £35 per person
