Spring is in full swing, with a beautiful display of blossom, buds and blooms. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy a wander in the gardens and pick up some planting inspiration in the nursery. Talk tulips with Anna Pavord later in the month and some dates for your diary you won’t want to miss.

Tulips in May

In less than a week, the tulips have sprung from tightly budded to full bloom. Pinks and purples and deep reds with accents of orange providing swathes of colour throughout the garden. New for 2018 is our tulip swirl, a configuration of 2 interlinking spirals, a beautiful flower filled wander this Spring. Take a look, we’ll be posting daily photos on our instagram feed.

Garden Masterclass in May

Now that spring is in the air we are getting ready to talk tulips with Anna Pavord, look at woodland wonders with Keith Wiley and get those summer containers looking good with Harriet Rycroft. Join us for a day of Garden Masterclasses with practical tips and know-how, in association with  Gardens Illustrated Magazine.

Half Term Pizza Making – 29th & 31st May

Join us for a pizza making workshop at Forde Abbey, where you’ll be rolling up your sleeves and having a go yourself. Pizzas will be cooked in our wood-fired oven, so bring willing hands and an appetite. £10 per person. Be quick to book your space!

Tre Voci Concert – 24th May

An international cast of soloists from Austria, America and Israel are in Britain for their Wigmore Hall concert later this month but will first, much to our delight, perform at Forde Abbey. Why not picnic in the gardens and make a night of it?

The Garden Team

Joshua Sparkes will be joining the team from Monday as head gardener. Fresh from his travels around the world to investigate inspiring plant and gardening practices, Josh brings with him a wealth of experience having previously worked at Sissinghurst.
