Forde Abbey Nursery
A seasonal selection of reasonably priced herbaceous perennials, grown on site, along with helpful advice and pots of inspiration for the garden – visitors rarely leave empty-handed!.
Please join us in welcoming a new member to the gardening team. Tom Wild is our new Senior Propagator, and brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at East Lambrook Manor and Long Acre Plants. The Forde Abbey nursery, as it’s now called, is a new venture for Forde Abbey, and Tom will be propagating and growing plants from the garden to sell in the nursery. It’s an ideal opportunity to see the plants themselves woven into seasonal displays throughout the garden, and will hopefully be a beautiful memento of Forde Abbey to take home with you.
Helping Tom for two days a week is Jo Witts, and together the nursery team will be on hand to offer friendly help and advice throughout the year. Our range will include a seasonally-ever-changing selection of herbaceous perennials and grasses, reliable garden stalwarts that we consider, first and foremost, to be good garden plants.
As we are a small nursery many plants are only produced in small numbers. Therefore, we often sell out of more popular lines; if you are seeking a particular plant please telephone a few days in advance of coming to check availability.
If you are passing through, perhaps on a short-break in Devon or Cornwall, we are happy to look after purchased plants for up to two weeks for collection on your homeward journey.
The Abbey Plant Nursery Dorset is situated adjacent to the walled Kitchen Garden at Forde Abbey. You can visit the nursery, and adjoining gift shop, without having to purchase an admission ticket for the House or Garden.
